Saline, MI – Two employees of R&B Plastics Machinery have been promoted due to their performance with the company, according to Al Hodge, President. Phil Smith was promoted to Plant Supervisor, responsible for all shop employees specializing in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical service. In his expanded role, Smith is responsible for plant operations and plant maintenance. This includes supervising plant procedures and policies to support R&B’s production goals. In his new role, he will report to Tom Redies, Vice President of Manufacturing. Smith resides in Dundee.

Dave Kohler has been promoted to Service and Aftermarket Sales Manager. In his new role Kohler will direct R&B’s field-service activity and aftermarket parts sales. This includes a field-service team of 18 with a collective 450+ years’ experience. Kohler will continue to be the first contact in providing assistance to customers for R&B products and services. In his new role, he will report to Dave Corson, Director of Sales/Marketing. Kohler resides in Tecumseh.
R&B manufactures extrusion and blow-molding machinery for the plastics industry. They are used to make everything from bottles and containers used to package motor oil/lubricants, household cleaners, detergents, food/beverage, lawn/agricultural chemicals, and more. For extruded products, markets served include building/construction, appliances, pipe of all sizes, medical tubing/disposables, wire and cable, plastic sheet/film and more.
“We’re pleased at the volume of machines processed in 2010 and are optimistic about continued growth in 2011,” Hodge said. R&B’s sister company, Monroe Mold, is based in Monroe, MI. The company makes dies and tooling for the blow-molding and extrusion markets. Both firms are part of the Talon Group based in Grosse Pointe, MI.
