The new shuttle blow molder is a double sided shuttle machine with 60 tons of clamp force. The platens are 52" wide and 32" tall with a daylight opening of 20" and capable of extrusion rates up to 4,000 lbs/hr. The machine is equiped with integrated in-machine deflash and part removal systems. The first machine has been in the field since last September running large 7 gallon industrial containers, 6 per side in a tandem configuration in a 20 second cycle time, made possible only through the application of R&B's latest technology development, "Electronic Camming" (patent pending). This technology allows R&B to link all the key machine movements together based upon their phisical position thus eliminating all unecessary movement and corresponding cycle time penalty. The clamps can be configured in: 2 X 660, 3 X 430, 4 X 330, 5 X 250, and 6 X 215.
This opens up a whole new world of opportunity for the efficient production of larger industrial containers on a continuous extrusion machine!
